NEWS FLASH! Maddy's going into space!

Hello, readers and welcome back to the site. I have some news which I hope will be of interest...

From almost the first day that I sat down to write my debut sapphic romance novel, Boyfriend Practice, I have envisioned it as a series in which readers follow my heroine and MFC Tessa Niscombe through a series of adventures spanning a number of years.

The first three books in what is now the Blue Rose Series are already completely planned out and books 2 and 3, Daddysugar and Starlet Express, are being written.

The third book is set in 1994-95 and takes place behind the scenes of a sci-fi movie in which Tessa makes her first appearance in a leading role. As part of the plotting of the novel, I also had to come up with an outline for the movie and how it might be shot, so that I could then build the story of the novel onto that framework.

But that made me think. And what I thought was: if I am going to all the trouble of writing a whole plot - then why not make a story out of that too?

And so I am. To be brutally honest, I would much rather that it were a graphic novel or comic because I think that it would really suit the story and the characters. In Tessa's world, the movie that she is making is an adaptation of a fictional comic strip from the 1930s and that's really how I have always pictured it.

But needs must. And anyway, I am an aspiring/early-day novelist rather than a graphic author. However, I have played around with some of the illustrations to find a style that I like and I hope that - in ebook form at least - the chapter headers will be of sufficiently graphic novel-ish to please.

What I can promise is that it will be as queer as can be. A bit scary, very entertaining and as sexy as I can humanly make it. Keep coming back here for news, progress and maybe the odd snippet!

Writing sci-fi? Moi? Never saw that coming! But such is the delight of this world of Tessa's that I have got myself into - and I hope you come into outer space with me too.
